Developmental Education Placement Indicators are rates at which community college students are placed into and enroll in developmental courses.
It is estimated that between half and two-thirds of community college students need to take at least one developmental education course. Sometimes called remedial classes, developmental education courses may be offered at multiple levels. For example, before taking college-level algebra, a student might need to take arithmetic, basic algebra and intermediate algebra.
